The Athens Immigrant Rights Coalition will host a Town Hall meeting and work session Saturday April 13 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the UGA Health Sciences Campus, George Hall, room 117. Latinx families will provide a delicious homemade lunch for a small donation. Panel and breakout sessions will focus on education, health, policy, community and faith-based support for families in crisis, and more.
This event will offer the community a chance to learn more about what each branch of AIRC does, how to get involved, and local issues that are affecting our Latinx community. Each partner group and committee of the AIRC will share their accomplishments, current focus, and future goals. Local officials will speak about issues affecting the immigrant community.
“AIRC is the glue that holds together the immigrant communities in Athens,” said AIRC president Beto Mendoza. “This event will provide a map for immigrants to navigate services, develop a shared agenda, and work together on addressing issues. Whether you are an immigrant or an ally, you have a place at the drawing table as we create this map.”
All immigrants and allies working in solidarity with immigrants and their families in the Athens area are invited to participate.
